Wall Cladding and Architectual Mouldings

EPS wall panel is the smart choice in combining an external cladding system with built-in insulated quality. It can be used in domestic, industrial and commercial applications. The system provides weather resistant seam free rendered finish in a wide range of textures and colours.  The polystyrene wall panel is secured to the wall studs via screws fitted with large plastic washers. The panel is then rendered in the colour of choice. Our coloured panels are treated with Poligard® a termite, ant and other insect deterrent.  Poligard®is not a termite barrier and must be used in conjunction with a termite management program in accordance with the Australian Standard A3660 ”Protection of buildings from subterranean termites”.  The use of architectural mouldings can enhance the appearance of a building. EPS is a quick and cheaper alternative being able to be cut to the required shape and then glued to the wall of the building. The render is applied and the moulding melds into the wall structure.

Void Former
Pre-stressed concrete beams

EPS is used to create voids in concrete slabs and beams to reduce the overall weight of the concrete member while maintaining its structural strength.
Void formers can be manufactured to shapes specified by designers for projects such as long span beams used in bridge and multi storey car parks and voids in suspended slabs. They are used in the pre-stress, post tension and conventional concrete designed structures.

Marine floatation

EPS provides positive floatation for marine applications such as boats, pontoons and floating boardwalks.  EPS buoyancy systems are safe for the environment. They are ozone friendly. No CFC's are used in their production, and they have no food value for marine animals. EPS is cut to suit the shapes of the internal floatation voids.

Theme Park Decor, Stage Props

The chemical composition of polystyrene enables it to be cut or carved into a multitude of shapes without splitting or collapsing. Large stage props and statues can be carved quickly and easily using EPS. The finished shape is then covered with a polyurethane coating to provide a strong durable finish.

Wall and Roof Insulation

EPS is a very effective wall and roof insulation material.  Other soft forms of insulation collapse over a period of time while EPS retains it shape and insulation properties forever.   The insulation R factor can be varied dependant on the grade and thickness of the EPS board used.  The unique EPS wall insulation illustrated has been manufactured with a spring mechanism which enables the EPS board to be inserted between studs of varying spacing and will remain in position. In addition EPS sheet can be sandwiched between colour-bond steel sheets to form an insulated wall or roofpanel.  Due to the strength of the steel cladding these panels have the ability to span large distances unsupported making them ideal for cool room walls and roofs where a clean internal surface is required.

Internal Wall and Ceiling Lining

A new product has recently been developed combining cardboard and EPS substrate.  This product is in direct competition with gypsum filled wall and ceiling board but has the advantage that it is lightweight, has insulation properties and is not effected by moisture.

Geofoam

Solid polystyrene can support large distributed loads with only small deformation.  This quality has been used extensively in Korea, Japan, USA and Europe to provided light weight fill under roadways on low bearing capacity soils and in slip zones.  The compressibility of EPS is taken into account in the design of the Geofoam fill enabling large depths of polystyrene to be used. To avoid any contaminants coming in contact with the Geofoam the EPS fill is wrapped in a PVC membrane. Polyblock International supports the use of Poligard® treated EPS to ensure ants or other insects do not find refuge in the fill.
Placing EPS geofoam behind retaining structures reduces lateral pressure, lower settlements, improves waterproofing and provides better insulation. The low density and the high compressibility of EPS geofoam also limit horizontal forces against retaining structures during earthquakes.
Because the density of EPS geofoam is 50 to 100 times lower than soils, geofoam is highly effective in improving the stability and safety of slope construction by minimizing the potential of failure surfaces between driving blocks and resisting blocks in a slope.
